Artist Statement
As a mixed media artist, it is my goal to constantly push my personal limits while exploring various mediums along the way. I am most interested in understanding human relations and the ways in which various relationships and experiences shape one's life. I have recently been focusing on the darker side of todays society while incorporating morbid events of the past into my work.
Lately, I have been working to better understand make-up special effects while basing my work around the molding techniques I have learned so far. I have been working with Polytek rubber in addition to rubber latex in order to create my first sets of prosthetics. While self-learning the process of effects, I have been working to create projects that push morbid aspects to various real life serial killers. I have also been working to push my painting skills to better reproduce proper skin tones and explore placing prosthetics on models.
Finally, as an aspiring educator, it is my goal to encourage students to think critically while exploring the world of art. I encourage the exploration of various movements in art history through each of my lesson plans. In addition, I plan to find new ways in which to collaborate with teachers in other subjects in order to create a well-rounded curriculum for all students. I plan to create equally educational and entertaining projects that will connect to a safe learning environment. Through continued studies of various disabilities, I continue to include adaptations for special learners to each of my lesson plans i create. I hope to inspire students while teaching painting, drawing, print making and sculpture in the classroom.
